About

Matthew Martin is Assistant Curator of International Decorative Arts and Antiquities in the National Gallery of Victoria.  Originally trained in Byzantine archaeology and Semitic philology, he was formerly Director of Studies at the Melbourne College of Divinity.  Recent publications include Chinoiserie: Asia in Europe, 1620-1830, Melbourne: National Gallery of Victoria, 2010 (with Carol Cains); The Peter Wynne Morris Collection.  French Eighteenth Century White Porcelain in the National Gallery of Victoria, Melbourne: National Gallery of Victoria, 2008 (with Amanda Dunsmore); and "Writing Divine Speech: Greek Transliterations of Near Eastern Languages in the Hellenistic East" in W Cooper (ed) The Politics of Orality.  Orality and Literacy in Ancient Greece 6 (Leiden: Brill, 2007), 251-273. ]
